[Yep. It sure is the Hanged Man, the "usual"... it's been that way for him for quite a long time now. So he heads on over, taking a seat at the bar and ordering some good wine. If they're talking idiocy, he'll need the really good stuff. He greets her as she comes in.]
Pensive. It's been more than two years since I joined up, and I'm realizing how many people have come and go since then. Some of them, pretty close. Some of them might return, but others...can't.
[She takes a sip to stop herself from delving further into that mood, or at least give her a break before doing so.]
Have you heard we have another infamous person in our number, now? Warden Loghain, of all people, showed up and seems to be the new hate sink.
Has it really been two years since all of this started?
[He sounds astonished by this fact, surprised that so much time has passed. He'd heard things of it, joined, left and rejoined... and in all that time, they've not come close to defeating their true enemy yet.]
I understand the frustration. It's a long time to fight the same fight... a long time to go without any true end in sight. All I can say is that people will always come and go... it's rare to find any that don't. [It may or may not be of any comfort, but it's just something he's noticed over time. Something to come to terms with. He sighs and rolls his eyes.] The Inquisition should have raised its standards a long time ago, given who they'll let in. I realize we're desperate, but... we can't be this desperate.
[And why do the Wardens keep sending them the worst of their worst?]
[Korrin nods at Fenris' words, glad that he isn't offering any empty comfort. It is what it is, and she doesn't need it sugarcoated.]
Well, you said it yourself. We've a long way to go without any true end in sight. If taking on whoever we can get shortens that, then I don't think we've got much of a choice. But it's easier to say that when I'm not Fereldan and haven't lived through the Blight there. I can't exactly blame them for feeling salty over it.
You can't blame them at all. I know entirely how they feel, in some sense. After all, there are worse individuals already in the Inquisition. [He makes a disgusted face, we all know who he's talking about here.] I suppose it can't be helped for now. [He sighs.] Maybe we really are that desperate. We have a greater enemy to deal with first, after all.
[Yes, she knows exactly who he's talking about and darts a look of shared disgust as she raises her drink.]
For what it's worth, I'll never not think that was a serious misjudgment on the leadership's part. It's a goddamn miracle the southern nations of Thedas still worked with us after that; they could have just turned their backs on us and the Inquisition would be dead in the water. As it is, appeasing them has wasted time and manpower that would have been better spent elsewhere. How far behind are we because of that?
[He sighs heavily, shrugging a little as he takes a long sip of his drink.]
Farther behind than we should be, at this point. We couldn't afford that, as it was, and now... we've had a lot of unnecessary extra work on hand, repairing the Inquisition's reputation. But I guess we can't do much about it, the decision has been made and we have to deal with it somehow.
[It's not something they could take back, and even if they did, it would look bad at this point.]

[Let's face it, there are always plenty of folks who meet that qualification in his mind.]
no subject
I'm ready to deal with that if you are, my friend. I don't care how long it takes, as long as we can bitch to our heart's content.

[And he needs more excuses to get out, he's well aware, thanks to the occasional thoughts of what Varric might say.]
no subject
[Like she needs to specify where to meet. They both know it's the Hanged Man.]

It's just ale to start with. If you want something else, it's your coin.

[He comes over and takes a sip as he settles in.]
So, how have you been lately, Korrin?

[She takes a hearty swig, then glances around.]
Someone put up a dartboard, I see. Care for a game?

[But it seems a long way off, and longer sometimes whenever they come across more developments.]
I would. [He gulps down his drink, setting it down in a decisive way.] Let's go for it.
